Built circa 1815, the Adam Strain Building is a tabby warehouse that was used for a variety of purposes, including the storage of cotton, a ship's chandlery, a pharmacy, and a mercantile. The Adam Strain Building was one of two local structures to survive the Burning of Darien during the Civil War, and the adjoining one-story building housed the Bank of Darien.
